Title: Library Specialist - Preservation Assistant/Beaufort

LIBRARY SPECIALIST (Preservation Assistant/Beaufort):  Strong customer service advocate who works regular service desks shifts performing library circulation functions while providing research and genealogical assistance and instruction to customers on a daily basis. Applies knowledge of best practices in processing of special collection items and metadata creation to preserve various types of archival and library materials. Provides administrative support for all unit tasks and activities.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in history, education or business
  • Three (3) years library experience preferred
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including demonstrable skills in EXCEL and WORD
  • Experience in preservation work preferred
  • Excellent customer service, communication, organizational and computer skills
  • Willing to work flexible schedule including nights and weekends
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license

 

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
